Bachmann Italian Spruce is cut during the winter season, and has an even and straight fibre flow, light weight and a reflecting glimmer. We also have Swiss violin spruce tops from Tonewood Switerland, and other European sources, as listed. Age surcharge may be added or adjusted as necessary.

Age Surcharge: 5+ years: 10% 10+ years 20% 15+ years 30% Selected/individual pieces usually have these surcharges already applied; otherwise adjustment will be made.

"Tonewood Switzerland" Spruce Tops

Spruce tops from “Tonewood Swizerland”. Variously labelled by the company, most of these are from 2006/2007. Age graded wood has the following surcharge added: 5+ years 10%; 10+ 20%, 15+ 30%.

We resort material according to our own grading system, which is more consistant than the inked stamps (A, AA, or AAA). Spruce tops are graded for:
a) straight, even, fine grain; b) radial cut; c) evident twisting of fibers.

Split European Spruce Tops

Quality, seasoned European spruce tops. Age graded wood has the following surcharge added: 5+ years 10%; 10+ 20%, 15+ 30%.
